October is the right time to stop your robotic lawnmower and ensure it safely waits out the winter. A properly prepared robot will return to the lawn in the spring without unnecessary faults, and the first start of the season will be quick and smooth.
This guide is suitable for owners of ANTHBOT Genie 600, Genie 1000, Genie 3000, M5, M9, and N8 models. The details of some steps may vary depending on the specific model, so it is always worth referring to the manufacturer's manual.
1. Perform the final cut
The final cut should not be delayed until the first day of frost. It is best for the robot to work on a dry lawn when there is no frost, heavy rain, or excess water.
Before ending the season:
- choose a dry and brighter day;
- do not leave the lawn too short;
- increase the cutting height slightly compared to your summer setting;
- if the grass is very overgrown, do not cut it all at once;
- after the final cut, remove large quantities of leaves and twigs.
A practical guideline is a grass height of about 5–6 cm, but choose the exact settings according to the condition of your lawn and the capabilities of your specific ANTHBOT model. Grass cut too short before winter can be weaker, while a lawn that is too high and damp is more prone to lodging.
If you use an ANTHBOT N8, it is also worth checking before the end of the season that the collection container and cutting system are clean. This model can not only mow but also collect and sweep, so there may be more grass and leaf residue in it after autumn work.
2. Thoroughly clean the robot
Dirt, damp grass, and leaves left over winter can trap moisture around mechanical and electrical parts. Therefore, cleaning is not a cosmetic procedure, but an important part of winter preparation.
Before starting, turn off the robot and follow the safety instructions. When flipping the device over, ensure it is stable.
Check the following areas:
- cutting blades and their mounts;
- the underside of the chassis;
- front and rear wheels;
- wheel gaps and axles;
- charging contacts;
- cameras and their protective covers;
- housing joints and lids.
Remove grass residue with a soft brush or a dry cloth. The housing can be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth, but do not use high-pressure washing and do not direct a strong water jet at the cameras, contacts, or electronic components.

The cutting blades must be undamaged and properly attached. If they are dull, deformed, or rusted, it is safer to replace them with original parts. This improves cutting quality and reduces vibration next season.
Clean the camera surfaces very carefully. Even a thin layer of dirt can impair obstacle detection and navigation when the robot starts working again in the spring.
3. Disable the schedule and end the season in the app
Simply turning off the robot's power button is not always enough. Before moving your ANTHBOT to its storage location, perform the season-end steps in the app.
It is recommended to:
- stop active mowing;
- disable the automatic work schedule;
- check that the robot is not scheduled to leave the station;
- save or note down existing maps and zone settings;
- check for active error messages;
- install pending software updates, if applicable to your specific model;
- disconnect the main power of the robot before long-term storage.
It is worth reviewing the latest notifications in the app. If the robot finished the season with a recurring error, do not postpone it until next spring. Write down the error code, take a photo of the message, and send it to service.
This way, you won't have to search again in the spring for when and under what circumstances the problem occurred.
4. Prepare the charging station and base station
The charging station often remains outside all winter, so it also needs to be prepared. First, clean the grass, soil, and leaves from the station surface and the charging contacts.
Follow these steps:
- disconnect the power adapter from the mains;
- check that the power cable is not cracked or damaged;
- clean the station contacts;
- ensure the station is firmly in place;
- protect it from direct snow and puddle accumulation;
- do not wrap electronics in impermeable material if condensation can accumulate inside.
If you are using an ANTHBOT model that supports RTK or NetRTK functions, additionally inspect the base station and its antenna. Check:
- the antenna mounting point;
- cable insulation;
- tightness of connections;
- power supply unit;
- whether there are any new obstacles around the antenna.
It is usually worth disconnecting the base station power for winter, unless the instructions for your specific model state otherwise. The more sensitive electronic part can be stored in a dry place, and the mount left outside must be protected from water and mechanical damage.
In the spring, after returning the system to operation, you may need to check the antenna position and navigation performance.
5. Take proper care of the battery
The battery is one of the most important parts of the robot's wintering. Cold, moisture, and long-term storage in a fully discharged state can shorten its service life.
Before storage:
- charge the battery according to the specific model's manual;
- for long-term storage, do not leave it constantly connected;
- do not attempt to store the robot with a fully discharged battery;
- do not charge it to 100% if the manufacturer's recommendations provide for partial charging;
- store the robot in a room where the temperature does not fall below 0 °C;
- protect the battery from moisture, cold, and excessive heat.
The most important thing is to follow the recommendations for your specific ANTHBOT Genie 600, Genie 1000, Genie 3000, M5, M9, or N8 model. Different batteries and control systems may have different storage requirements.
If you are storing the robot for several months, do not leave it in a garage where the temperature fluctuates from positive to negative. A dry storage room, heated garage, or another stable room is a safer choice.
6. Check the installation and note any faults for service
The end of the season is the right time not only to clean the robot but also to evaluate the entire system. This is especially important if you noticed during the summer that the robot stopped more often, had difficulty returning to the station, or worked inaccurately in certain zones.
If your system uses a perimeter wire, check:
- if the wire was damaged during landscaping work;
- if there are any exposed or broken spots;
- if the connections are protected from moisture;
- if the station signal was stable.
For RTK systems, inspect the base station cables, connections, antenna mount, and power supply.
List all observations:
- error codes;
- unusual noise;
- weaker cutting;
- wheel slippage;
- navigation inaccuracies;
- more difficult charging;
- damaged blades or housing;
- faster battery depletion.
Right now is the time to book end-of-season preventive maintenance. The KiemoRobotai team can check your robot, assess wear and tear, perform technical maintenance, and recommend what to replace before the new season.
Autumn preventative maintenance has a clear advantage: you won't have to wait in line for repairs in the spring, and identified faults will not become a bigger problem.
7. Safely store the robot until spring
Store the cleaned and turned-off robot in a dry, clean, and safe room. It should not stand directly on a damp floor, next to a heater, or in a place where it can be reached by children or animals.
Best conditions:
- stable, non-freezing temperature;
- low humidity;
- good ventilation;
- protection from dust and shocks;
- level shelf or firm surface;
- enough space so that the cameras and housing are not compressed.
Do not store the robot outside under a simple cover. Even if the housing is water-resistant, prolonged exposure to cold, condensation, and moisture can adversely affect the electronics, contacts, and battery.
